In 1969, on the long, open shoreline of Kujukuri Beach in Chiba Prefecture, a small group began meeting before sunrise. Japan was in the middle of cultural and political shifts, but at the water’s edge the ritual stayed simple. Boards carried across cool sand. Clothes folded near the dunes. First light breaking over the Pacific.
Women and men paddled out together, riding clean morning waves without spectacle. The sessions stayed quiet, but word moved through the local surf community. A few respected surfers joined in. Over time, those dawn gatherings became part of the beach’s history.
The Kujukuri Beach Towel captures that moment in full scale. The artwork features a nude rider mid-carve beneath a rising sun, framed by sakura blossoms and bold, vintage-inspired color. The composition nods to late-1960s Japanese surf graphics while keeping the lines crisp and direct.
Oversized and soft to the touch, this towel is made from an absorbent cotton-blend built for sand, salt, and long afternoons on the shore. Large enough to stretch out on, strong enough to handle repeated dips in the water.
A functional piece that carries a real place and time forward.

Due to the custom nature of our products, we do not accept returns or exchanges unless the item is damaged or incorrect. If you receive a faulty product, contact us within 30 days of receiving your order, and we’ll arrange a replacement or refund. Be sure to include photos and a description of the issue.
